Buffing restores some gloss and smoothness to floors, it does not achieve the same wet-look shine that burnishing does. Buffing is generally can run from 175 to as high 300 revolutions per minute, and is depends what king of floors you buffing.

Burnishing requires a high speed machine (normally 1200 rpm and more) and a burnishing pad such as beige, gray, or hair impregnated. The shine or gloss level should result in an ultra-high shine with the proper floor finish.
